Yesterday I discovered how to use HP Recovery Image and Software Download Tool (ThinUpdate) 64-bit to download the Thinpro OS image. This tool made a bootable USB, and I was able to copy a fresh Thinpro image to the thin client.

: The 5.1.710.XPe3 (Simplified Chinese) image contained in this package can be deployed to a supported Thin Client model with a minimum of a 512-MB flash memory card and 512-MB RAM, however, you may experience low-disk-space and out-of-memory pop-ups. HP recommends a minimum of a 1-GB flash memory card and 1 GB of RAM.

NOTE
: For the FTP Image Update to function properly, it requires the following available free space:

~250 MB of RAM
The XPe image or images (in .IBR format) and the WinPE boot image, which are provided by HP in the form of an add-on, must reside in the same folder on the FTP server. FTP Image Update over wireless is not supported. For greater usage flexibility, experience, and to take advantage of this, and all features provided in this latest image, HP recommends at least 1 GB of flash and 1 GB of RAM.

Successful deployment and operation of the Chinese (PRC Simplified) image requires a minimum of:
- 512-MB flash memory card
- 512 MB of RAM

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the file by clicking the 'Download' or 'Obtain Software' button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
This SoftPaq contains a utility that is designed to aid in the deployment of this factory image.
During the installation, you are prompted to choose one of the following actions:
- Format a USB drive with the image and tools.
- Unpack the contents into a directory of your choice.
If you are not sure about how to proceed, or if you want to integrate this image into a managed environment, choose 'Deployment' and review the documentation provided in the RECOVERY.PDF file.
NOTE
: To determine the version of your operating system, click the Start button, which is located in the lower-left corner of the display screen, and then select HP System Information. In the System Information panel that is displayed, check the value beside the Image Version label.
